Dino Facts

Thanks to Eve for asking my first three questions. I shall try to answer them.

1) The parent that sat on the eggs was the female only, except Ankylosaurus, it never sat on the eggs because it might have crushed them.

2) The picture is of a Mother T-Rex looking after it's young, Where is the male? I know it's gone out hunting, is that true...? Wrong, after the clutch of eggs have been laid the female chases off the male. Apart from that all Dino's are good parents, but years back Coelphysis have been thought to have eaten there young. But scientists have discovered that it may have been crocodiles they were eating.

3) Dinosaurs were in the United Kingdom but only a few of them have been identified. However, the Isle of Wight has the most fossils of any place in Europe.

The Jurassic

The Jurassic was not the first period for the dinosaurs. But it was deadly time. The time when the beasts start to form. Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, pterasals. Not all the beasts lived in that time beasts like t-Rex and Albertosaurus lived in the Cretaceous.

Dimetrodon

Dimetrodon was not actualy a dinosaur. Although it looked like one it was not. It was a prehistoric creature that passed as a dinosaur. It was a ground creature and was a carnivore that killed small bugs and dinosaurs. It lived near the start of the dinosaurs so it was not all ways a killer of dinosaurs.

Stegosarus

Stegosarus was a dinosaur. It had plates on it's back (not plates you eat with). During the Jarassic peried, it had to be on the look out for the Allosaurus. It could put blood into it's plates to dissplay a scary sight for any preditors.

Saber Tooth Tiger

The Saber Tooth Tiger had two very long teeth sticking out from either side of it's moth. It had yellow fur and lived in the ice age with the woolly mammoths. It was a carnivore and again was not a dinosaur. It was very much like raptors because it jumped on it's prey. The claws were only used to move the corpse over.

G. Wucaii

The G. Wucaii is a new fossilised dinosaur. It is the oldest T-Rex in the family. It was 3ms long. A spectacular crest on the top of its Head that was probably brightly coloured. the new type was found in the Junggar basin, a place rich in Dino fossils in the north-west corner of china.

Woolly Mammoth

The Woolly Mammoth was a huge prehistoric creature. Although it wasn't a dinosaur, it was a fascinating creature. It was basically an elephant in lots and lots of fur. But it had a lot of differences as well: its teeth were different, it had a very long curly trunk. If you watch Prehistoric Park you can see one in episode 2. Its' name was Mather the Mammoth (I think).

Albertosaurus

Albertosaurus was part of the Tyrannosaur family. It ate meat and could not run that fast. It had to be patient and wait for a slow moving prey to walk by. The creature had thick sharp teeth that would tear away anything ( expet metal and other types of metal ).

Ankylosaurus

Ankylosaurus was a thick boned herbivore that had spickes on it the fleshy bit was on the bottom. It sat down and tyrannosaurus could not kill it. It could not run very fast because of it's weight. The creature lived near ground level and could not stand on two legs.

T-rex

T-Rex stands for Tyrannosaurus Rex. It means it was king of the dinosaurs. This creature had tiny arms that couldn't even reach it's mouth. So they had no use. T-Rex used it's large teeth to dig into it's preys flesh. It chased it's prey short distances and would knock it over if possible. T-Rex lived in the Cretaceous period.

Diplodocous

Diplodocous comes from a family of the sauropods. They have enormous bodies and very long tail. These magnificent dinosaurs lived to the end of the Jurassic period. Their tails were used to keep them balanced and to make attracting sounds. They were also used for scaring away predators like Allosaurus the king of the Jurassic.

Velociraptor

The Velociraptor is the second most deadliest dinosaur. It was the most scariest in the 3 films Jurassic park. It has razz er sharp claws on it's feet. It also has retractable claws on it's hands. The velociraptor is the fastest carnivour ( meat-eater) in the world, it would run after it's prey and jump on it and dig in it's claws until the prey is dead. Then it sinks it's teeth into a juicy piece of meet.

Welcome

Hello young explorers. Welcome to the land of dinosaurs. We shall look at the many species of dinosaurs. Enjoy the tour.
